Participant has a history of being bullied and only wants to have therapy provided in interactive platforms and 1 v 1 sessions where they feel they are in control. In the supervised digital environment they often (virtually) beat up or shoot at the therapist who holds the space for the venting of frustrations.
Therapist provide these sessions over a number of weeks.
Participant learns to trust the therapist and begins asking them to stand still while they show them what each tool or move does. The therapist challenges this by asking the same from the participant building trust in only completing one move or tool show at a time. Participant trust grows and allows for the offer to join as a team to defeat others.
Therapist notices when they are dyregulated that they return to aggravating the therapist, who queries their feelings in a safe way, leading to disclosure about bullying instances.
When the participant feels they have said too much, they change the subject and the therapist tracks this over a number of sessions.
Eventually the therapist feels the alliance is strong enough to query the change in subject, offering to listen if they ever feel they want to share.
After an additional period of 2 months, the participant shares their feelings about bullying, while the therapist listens without comment or judgement. The interactive platform becomes ‘sweaty’ allowing for containment of the feelings and the therapist waits until a lull in the session to thank the participant for sharing their feelings while being cautious to retain the safety of the space.

Participant still willingly engages in the 1 v 1 interactive platforms if there is an update to see what each type of tool does however this is short lived and sessions are often in teaming challenges working together, or in ‘chill’ platforms working on group challenges with significantly less dysregulation reported at home.
